The Exchange Manipulator plug-in is the most powerful of the Outlook/Exchange plug-ins. It is able to access all folders for any Exchange user including public folders. Installation of the plug-in on the Exchange server is not required as the plug-in talks directly to Outlook. The plug-in is installed on a single client or server machine, which has Outlook and FileMaker Pro installed. If installed on a server, then install on a server not running Exchange Services.
An “admin” profile is then created in Outlook. Within this “admin” Outlook profile, you open up all mailboxes. If the Outlook profile has access to all the Mailboxes in an organization, then the current FileMaker session will also. This plug-in is generally used in organizations where a dedicated machine such as a “robot” or “dummy” machine will be constantly running to update FileMaker and Exchange records. You can trigger scripts using FM 10, ScriptFire, Activator etc. to periodically trigger scripts and populate the data.
Using the Exchange Manipulator eliminates the need to install the plug-in at every workstation and eliminates user involvement during the data exchange process.
